Mommy Camp Day #25

Today was HARD to say the least. The three younger kids all got vaccinations, and at one point, there were three crying children in the stuffy room. My boys were by my mother-in-law, and in hindsight, it might have been easier to have them there- but I hate for well children to go to the doctors office for no reason.

By the time my husband walked in the door at 6:30, I was ready to collapse, but somehow mustered up the energy and motivation to go to run-which I did!!!

11 weeks till the 10k and I need every day!

Mommy Camp- start of week #5

Can not believe that four weeks have passed by, I am truly enjoying doing this! I really had some trepidation before and after making the decision to do mommy camp. I will not say its easy, because nothing about being a parent is easy, but it was meant for me and my kids this summer. Next summer I will most probably send the boys for a half-session each, alternating, so they will get the best of both worlds. My boys will need the counselor/learning/chassidish environment- as they are getting older!

here's to a great week !

Mommy Camp Day #13

Today was a blast, and I didn't spend a dime!

We left the house at 12:30, after a thorough first-floor clean in preperation for shabbos. We did the normal morning routine which includes davening, tehilim, site words, multiplication/division and addition, and a bit of number matching for the kids.

We went to Round Hill Farm where the kids spent close to an hour with the lambs. They were so playful and fun to be around. The sun was hot, but the kids didn't mind!

Next, we went to the nearby spray park where everyone had so much fun, I coudln't believe it when I saw that it was close to 4 p.m!

We got home after a bit of traffic at 5, and now the three younger ones went to bed without a peep!

Here's to great free days with the kidos!

Mommy Camp Day #12

Today was another hard one. We were indoors all day save for one hour at frog park and a dip in the pool afterwards

I managed to do some great reading with tiferes, and multiplication/division practice with Dovid, and two digit addition with yomin. We are on a roll as far as academia is concerned.

We are going away next week from monday-thursday and my mind is preoccupied with the preperations necessary for the trip. Tomorrow we are going to Round Hill Farm and spray park, so that will be the big trip of the week!

Until tomorrow, cheerio!

Mommy Camp Day #10

Thursday, July 5th 2012

Today was a hard one to say the least. I don't know if it was the fact that we stayed in (except to drop off food by someone and to drop off library books) all day, or the heat or I dunno. But it was the first HARD day of these 10 days.

I woke up later than usual at around 9. My oldest, thank G-d gives everyone their breakfast and took the baby out of her bed and gave her a bottle and something to eat too.

I get downstairs and start on the food I have to make for two lovely mom's who just had babies. I wanted to get it done and out of the way early, and with the help of the kids I did it. One huge batch of corn salad, a kugel, chicken and chocolate moose.

The kids helped with all the food, but I think somewhere along the line, everyoen got hot, tired, cranky and hungry because at around 12:30 all h*ll came loose.

There were some time outs given, and some crying, yes- and a few time outs for mommy too. hubby walked in late, so it was an extra hour with them today.

We didnt have any structured routine today, but thats ok. We did make it out to the pool and afterwards we all made challah together. we had some reading time on the floor and some hide and seek, but overal was a harder than usual day stuck in the house- way too hot for this early in the summer

Here's to a good week ahead, week #3 of 10!

Mommy Camp Day #9

Today was another hot day! I can handle this heat way better than the freezing cold, so I just gota remember that

This morning everyone did a bit of this and that. The boys davened and I had them read their novels that they got from the bookstore last week. I introduced four three-letter words to tiferes, and she picked it up fast. She can now read simple sentences such as Mat sat on cat. We are getting there!

at noon, I took Yonason and Tiferes to a bris, and left the boys at home doing their math sheets, while the baby slept.

at 2, we went to the science center until 4. At 4:30, a cousin came over to play with the boys, while I started dinner, or dinners as I should say, as I made mine as well.

5:30-bathed the three younger ones, followed by some bedtime stories and bed at 6:45

During the day today I baked four separate cakes for my husbands minyan in shul. Pumpkin Spice, Butterscotch, Apple and Peach. The house smells divine- the kids had fun helping!

Now to go running!

Mommy Camp Day #7

Today was a good day.

The boys davened + tehilim, cleaned their room, and did some multiplication and addtion
Tiferes practiced her sight words, and yonason and I read some books on the couch- all while Adara was sleeping

During that time, I managed to make a trifle and a peach cake

at 2, we met tatty at the carnegie library in oakland, and hung around their for about an hour.

we came home a bit after 3, and after I made challah dough with Tiferes, we headed outside for a good swim. The kids had a blast, so happy that I went with the Intex pool from target.com for $30. everyone had a blast- tonight I ordered a floaty tube for Adara, since the pool when even half way filled is just too much water for her. cant wait till it comes and she can float around!

5:30- dinner
6:30- poor yonason asked me to put him to bed. he was out in five minutes
7:00- adara to bed
7:25- Tiferes to bed
7:30-went to visit a friend who just had a baby
8:15-went to basketball
9:45- shaped and baked the challah, unloaded dishwasher, cleaned up kitchen

ZONKED!

Mommy Camp Day #6

Today was HARD to say the least, here's why:

For some odd reason all of my kids took forever in falling asleep last night, which equaled tired and low energy children today. hmph!

Dovid and Tiferes went to shul with hubby, while Yonason and I did puzzles, Yomin davened and Adara walked around shlupping toys and pulling books off the shelf. whatever-it keeps her busy

10:00- adara went for a nap

sight words with Tiferes- she is getting good. I may introduce the words "mat" and "cat" tomorrow. those will be her first three-letter-words, I think she is ready

multiplication with Dovid. At 11:00, because of their great behavior I let them watch thomas the tank engine which was of little interest to the older boys, and they eventually found their own things to do. It was a low key morning as far as activities.

12:00- did a load of laundry, since Sunday (my usual day of laundry) we are going to baltimore for two days, I wanted to keep the heaps to a minimum, and just throw one last load in saturday night so as not to come home to more laundry

1:00- to the aviary. yes, the kids were slightly entertained as they love to discover new species of birds, however, I was severely dissapointed that it was TINY, and that $57 for the four kids and me to get in was a big rip off. loving that I didnt' get the membership, we wont be going back. at 2, yes 2 ocklock, we were done there- even after seeing some of the exhibits twice. So I told the kids we would have a water day in the front yard.

2:30- filled up the baby pool as the new pool wasn't pumped up yet, and the kids had fun for about 45 minutes. The older two got bored and got dresseed and went inside, while the younger three were happy to be filling up buckets of water and enjoyed getting sprayed by the hose.

4:00- made another peach cake with tiferes

The rest of the time till hubby walked in at 5:15 was just low-key reading on the couch, and cuddle time. everyone was tired.
5:30- went for a run, didn't quite make the 8k that I did on Monday night, partly because my limbs are extremely sore from that run, and also it is much hotter today, which winded me earlier. But I did run over 5k, which is great for a hard day like today

Mommy Camp Day #4

Monday, June 25th

Today was a fun but exhausting day!

First, I wanted to get to Marshalls early to return a shirt that I purchased yesterday that was damaged. So we trekked to the waterfront early, and spent all of 3 minutes in the store, finding a duplicate of the shirt and doing the switch.

at 10:30, after Adara went for a nap, I did mommy school with the kids. Dovid & Yomin had multiplication and addition/subtraction sheets, and Tiferes got one new sight word, so 9 total- she knows 8 by sight and sound!!!

12:00- prepared lunch and a bag of snacks for the outings, and sent the kids out to play and water the tomatoes, peppers and flowers

1:00- woke the baby up and fed her, 1:30- on our way to chuck e cheese!

2:00-3:15- chuck e cheese- everyone had a fun time, something for everyone

3:30-4:00- Barnes N noble- what a great trip/idea- everyone found a great new book: Dovid- Treasure Island, Yomin- a new comic book, Tiferes- Thomas the Tank engine, Yonason- a fire engine shaped book with wheels- really cute

4:30- everyone settled down and read, colored, played toys- everyone was happy to be home
5:30- dinner, and yehuda came in exactly at 6!

7- bed time for 3 younger, ran 8k at schenley oval and now paying some bills, planning specifics of next week's mommy camp!

Mommy camp, Day #2

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Schedule:

Came downstairs at 8:30

The kids loved it and begged for more when they completed the ones I made. About to prepare for tomorrow. It is so much fun and the kids loved it. We started a points system for great marks that they can cash in for prizes, nosh or money.

12:00- made pancakes and fed lunch, packed up for museum
1;15- woke up the baby, fed her lunch and at 1:45 we were on our way

5:00- the kids were SO tired and hungry, we had an earlier dinner, baths and bed

4:00-4:20- Grocery shopping- I decided to grab the few things that I need for shabbos, and will make a menu for the week on sunday and go shopping alone. I let the kids pick a treat to celebrate the first day of summer
